About Damlataş Cave

Damlataş Cave is a natural cave located in the Alanya district of Antalya province in Turkey. The formation of the cave occurred approximately 15-16 thousand years ago as a result of the melting of limestone deposits that occurred after the end of the Ice Age when the sea level rose. The stalactites and stalagmites inside the cave were formed over time through dripping.

Damlataş Cave was opened to visitors for tourism purposes in 1948. The lakes, stalactites, and stalagmites inside the cave are natural formations that attract visitors' attention. Additionally, the air inside the cave is known to be beneficial for respiratory illnesses such as asthma, so the cave is also used for medical purposes.

The name of the cave comes from the drops of water that fall from a stalactite at the entrance of the cave. Damlataş means "dripping stone" in Turkish.

One of the most interesting features of Damlataş Cave is that it is home to the world's largest single-piece limestone stalactite. This stalactite is 15 meters long and 1.5 meters in diameter. Additionally, the lakes inside the cave are also quite fascinating.

The inside of the cave is illuminated with special lighting, and visitors can tour the cave with the help of tour guides. Admission to the cave is charged, and visiting hours are also specified.
